With completion of Egypt’s high profile, state-of-the-art New Administrative Capital in sight, Knauf Egypt is undertaking important work on projects within the CBD, comprising 20 buildings spread over 1,900,000 m2. The mix of structures includes office buildings, high rise residential buildings, two luxury hotels and the much lauded $US 3 billion, 80 floor Iconic Tower, which is slated to be the tallest in Africa, reaching an impressive 385.8m. Work started in May of 2018, with the concrete casting process taking from February 2019 until June of 2021, a procedure involving advanced technology and seamlessly coordinated effort. Due to be completed in December of 2022, the tower will be host to commercial units, celebrated cafes, a bank, a pharmacy, a large food court, hotel units and a fully finished Sky Villa.
Knauf signed an initial cooperation agreement with the main contractor, China State Construction Engineering Corporation to the tune of approximately 100 million EGP, covering work to date, with a new contract valued at an additional 30 million EGP to be signed shortly for the Crescent Tower. With speed and efficiency key to reaching build deadlines, Knauf has performed with its impeccable adherence to quality, stringent standards and reliability to meet the challenge. China State Construction Engineering Corporation singled out Knauf as the most suitable company to undertake the massive project, based on its excellent track record, high quality gypsum, global standing as an industry leader and its diverse experience.
Knauf Egypt values the level of confidence shown by its partner, and is proud to apply its skills and experience in such an immense project that stands as a beacon to Egypt’s dynamic development and progress.
